mLkoach analyses Counter-Strike 2 demos played on FACEIT. This page says what the site and its browser extension read, what they keep, and what they share. It's written to be read, not to cover us.

The site

What signing in with Steam gives us

Signing in uses Steam OpenID: Steam confirms the account is yours and sends back your public Steam ID (a seventeen-digit number). Your Steam password never goes through us — we don't see it, we couldn't see it. We then read your public nickname and avatar to show them at the top of the page.

That ID is stored in a signed cookie (mlk_session, thirty days) used only to recognise you from one visit to the next. No advertising cookie, no third-party tracker, no ad network.

What demos contain

A FACEIT demo describes a whole match: the ten players, their shots, their movements, their buys. By analysing it, we therefore also measure the nine other players in your matches — that's what makes it possible to compare you with someone rather than with a made-up target. These measures cover data already public on FACEIT: nickname, ID, match statistics.

We do not keep the demo files themselves once the analysis is done; only the measures extracted from them are kept.

What we count

To know whether the site is useful, we record five facts server-side: a visit, a sign-in, a demo import, a subscription, a cancellation. No cookie, no tracker, no third-party service. A visitor who isn't signed in is identified by a fingerprint of their IP address and browser, salted with a secret that changes every day: two visits on the same day match, visits on two different days don't. We can therefore count people, not follow them over time.

What we don't do

The browser extension

The mLkoach — Import your games effortlessly extension saves you downloading 200 MB and uploading it again. When you click “Watch demo” in a FACEIT match room, FACEIT gives you a signed download link and starts the download. If you asked mLkoach to import that match, the extension cancels the download and passes the link — the link alone — to mLkoach, which downloads and analyses it. The extension makes no request to FACEIT itself.

PermissionWhy it's requested
cookies Read a single cookie, mlk_session, on app.mlkoach.com, to know which account the uploaded demo belongs to. No other cookie is read, on any other site.
app.mlkoach.com Send the signed link to your account, and ask it for the status of your matches.
downloads Spot the demo download you just started — only for the match you asked to import, and only within five minutes — cancel it and forward its link. Your other downloads are neither read nor touched.
notifications, alarms, storage Tell you when a FACEIT match can be imported, and when one of yours has just been analysed. Every minute the extension asks mLkoach only for the list of your measured and missing matches; our server is the one talking to FACEIT, with its own key. What you have already been told is kept in your browser, so the same match is never announced twice.
faceit.com (match rooms and match history) Place the “Import to mLk Coach” button above FACEIT's own “Watch demo” button — it is the click on it that starts the transfer — and the per-row “Upload” button in your history, which opens the match room. Without a click from you, the extension touches nothing.

What the extension doesn't do. It doesn't read the pages you visit, doesn't look at your browsing history, sends no usage data, contains no analytics tool and talks to no server other than app.mlkoach.com. It never uploads a demo and never asks FACEIT anything on its own: apart from the status request to mLkoach every minute, it only acts when you click.

Opting out

Uninstalling the extension stops everything immediately. Signing out of mLkoach is enough too: without the session cookie, the extension has nothing left to talk to. To have your measures deleted from our base, write to the address below — they'll be removed, along with your nickname.
